Through all this time we learnt one lesson - we should never compromise on human values. Love, compassion, sense of gratefulness and a vision for everyone has to dawn in our life.
Let us celebrate with this one intention that let's bring home (Spiritual) Knowledge to everyone - that life, events are impermanent. What is permanent is our spirit, our consciousness. It has no birth and death. Life at a higher plane is eternal. So celebrate every moment knowing that every moment is a gift to us.
Get this. When celebration becomes service, there is no guilt. And when service becomes celebration, there is no pride. It is easy to get swept away in a negative mode. It takes courage to move out of it. I am sure all those who are here have this capacity. And all those who are reading this also have that capacity!

Don't worry, you can kill a mosquito, no problem! You see, violence is the
act that you do with anger or some selfish goal. When animals prey for
their food, it is not called violence. They are just doing their dharma.
Similarly in your body every day, millions of bacteria are dying. It is
happening as a phenomenon inside of you, otherwise you cannot survive. The
moment a harmful bacteria enters your body, all your white blood cells
attack and finish it, and that is how you get a cold. What is done for
survival or safety is not called violence. *

*Violence is the act done with negative emotions like anger, jealousy,
hatred, greed, arrogance. Otherwise, when you breathe in and breathe out,
you are killing many germs, does that means you should stop breathing? *

*When you take a shower, many bacteria are dying, does it mean you are
killing them? There is a sect on the planet that don't take bath because
they think they are killing the bacteria. They don't get into the water.
They simply wipe their body with a towel. I think that is foolish. *

*Nature is pouring water and giving you rain. Every animal in the forest
takes a shower the whole season. So bacteria, mites, insects are dying, but
if it is done for the sake of survival, it is not violence. Only when it is
done with negative emotions, it is violence. That is why Krishna says in
the Bhagavad Gita, 'You are only doing your duty. It is not a sin. Don't
worry. Even if you are doing a sin, I am there to take away your sin. I
will set you free. You be happy. You do your duty and be at peace'. This is
the essence of the Gita.*

Give peace to others-We have said, 'Vasudaiva Kutumbakam' (one world family). We have accepted the whole world as our family. Then you should rise up to that idea. Feel at home with anybody and everybody. Don't just focus on what is comfortable for you and what is not comfortable. You should get out of your comfort zone and bring comfort to others. This is most important.

See as to how many people are comfortable with you. You can do a survey about yourself and see how many people you make happy and comfortable? If you dislike people, you will find you are not friendly.

As we expand, we become friendly with people of different natures and different parts of the world. Sometimes, we feeling comfortable with people of our own state or country or religion. Here you have to mix with everybody. We have people of different faiths all here, Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs. We have people from every state of India, right from the Northeast to Kerala, and right from Jammu to Tamil Nadu. We also have people from all over the world and everyone has their own mannerisms and food habits. So you need to learn and bring comfort to others. You have had enough peace, now it's better you give peace to others.

These days movies are released in which they show a
sadhu (Hindu saint) in very bad light, In the movie, they
project that if you go to a Dargah (Sufi Islamic shrine)
your work will be done, but if you go to an Ashram
(spiritual hermitage or monastery) you will be finished.
They have portrayed Ashram to be a very bad place.
Some people are creating this type of prejudice.
A terrorist from outside India has funded people and
asked them to make a movie in which they put down
spirituality. We should see the intention behind such acts.
In the movie, the character says that they are for truth
and anti-corruption, but in real life the makers of the
movie bribed the Censor Board to pass the movie.
What they say in the movie and their acts in real life have
no connection whatsoever. And our young minds are
getting influenced by this. They should wake up.
The drug lobby is behind this. They want to take people
away from spirituality. They want to put barriers in their
mind towards participating in spiritual programs so that
they can easily lure them, as they will feel an emptiness
within.
One who has attended a spiritual program, and who is
involved in bhajan, and spiritual discourses will not take
to drugs or intoxicants. You are thousands sitting here.
How many of you drink alcohol or take drugs? (Nobody
raises hand). None! So this is a big loss for them. So to
improve their business they target all such places which
create a barrier against drugs and alcohol.
The people who do this are blind. They see only money
and nothing is beyond money for them. Their philosophy
is 'Make money even if the world goes to the dogs'.
There was a boy who was into drugs earlier, and then he
left drugs and came onto the spiritual path and into
knowledge. He was so happy, and these people saw this
and put a doubt into his mind. They asked him, 'Why do
you go to ashram and do meditation'. They told him,
'Nothing will happen by doing all this'. So the boy
stopped coming here and doing his spiritual practices. He
went back to taking drugs and fell back into depression.
The boy then jumped off the bridge and committed
suicide. Who is responsible for this? Those people who
put such thoughts in the mind of the young boy and
created barriers in his mind towards spirituality are
responsible. We must be alert about this.

KNOWLEDGE SHEET (SUBJECT) : DISCIPLE OR COMPANION

Are you a Disciple or Companion?

Knowledge has an end. Knowledge completes. So also does discipleship. For the disciple is aimed at acquiring Knowledge.

Once you cross the water, however nice the boat is, you get off the boat. After twelve years, the disciple completes his studies. The master does a ceremony called Samavartha, where he tells the disciple that he is ending the discipleship and asking him to behave at par with him, and let the Brahman dynamically manifest.

Sakha is a companion in life and death; it never ends. In the path of love there is neither beginning nor end. Sakha only wants the beloved. He doesn't care about the Knowledge or liberation. Love is incomplete because of longing. And so it is infinite, for infinity can never be complete.

Arjuna was a sakha to Krishna and although Krishna was the perfect Master he was a sakha too.

So, when you think of awakened people, you feel that sense of purity dawns within you.

If you think of someone who is very greedy and ambitious, you will get that type of vibration in you. If you think of someone who is very peaceful or joyous, you will feel that same vibration. The same sense of joy catches onto your consciousness.
Why should you not hate anybody? It is because whomsoever you hate, that person occupies a big portion in your consciousness.
Whomsoever you think about, you imbibe their qualities in you. So, when you think about a blossomed, witness consciousness of a higher order, you suddenly feel the purity within you and around you. This is so scientific and true."

Please tell us something about Hanuman? 

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: It is said that the Ramayana is happening in your own body. Your soul is Rama, your mind is Sita, your breath or life-force is Hanuman, your awareness is Laxmana and your ego is Ravana. When the mind was stolen by Ravana (the ego) then the soul got restless. Now the soul cannot reach the mind on its own, it has to take the help of the breath - the prana. With the help of the prana, the mind got reunited with the soul, and the ego vanished. This is the spiritual significance of the story. 

Otherwise Hanuman was a monkey, and in those days the monkeys were also very intelligent and very devoted. Devotees are much more powerful than the master himself. This is a fact. Real devotees are much more powerful than God.

🌹🌹It is better to live on alms in this world by not slaying these noble elders, because even after killing them we shall after all enjoy only bloodstained pleasures in the form of wealth and sense-enjoyments.

"na caitad vidmah kataran na gariyo-
yad va jayema yadi va no jayeyuh
yan eva hatva na jijvisamas
te'vasthitah pramukhe dhartarastrah"

🌹🌹We do not even know which is preferable for us- to fight or not to fight; nor do we know whether we shall win or whether they will conquer us. Those very sons of Dhrtarastra, killing whom we do not even wish to live ; stand in the enemy ranks.

The universe is a brilliant expression of consciousness. Everything you see here is nothing but an expression of consciousness, in its brilliance. The purpose of every created object is to remind you that the consciousness which has created this, which is the basis of this existence is the most brilliant one. Bharata means brilliance. Mahabharata means the great brilliance. The great brilliance has a song to it, has a rhythm to it, and that is Gita. Bhagwad Gita means 'Divine song: When there is a war, you cannot sing. War simply means disharmony. Music means harmony. On a battlefield, knowledge is so far away, yet that is what is most necessary there. When there is a war, wisdom is most essential. Bringing wisdom, not in a palace, but amidst war is the brilliance of the Divinity. Bringing harmony where it is most needed is the brilliance of the Divinity. Music is harmony. See the dichotomy in this. In the battlefield, can someone sing and talk to you about the Self? When someone does it, it is little short of a miracle! And one who does so is an expression of Divinity. One who did that in the battlefield, bringing out the wisdom of life, the truth of life, indicates an eternal phenomenon.

Life is a struggle when you don't know harmony. Everything here appears to be in conflict. The four elements are in conflict with each other. Fire does not like water, water does not like fire. Air does not like fire and vice versa. All the four elements in creation - the fifth one is just a witness - are in conflict. In the same way, in your body there is conflict, in the world there is conflict, in society there is conflict, in family there is conflict. There is conflict between the young and old, between the wise and the foolish, because the universe is made up of opposites. When it is made up of opposites, conflicts are bound to arise, then war is inevitable there. However, intervention of the Divinity can change this whole scenario. It's the Divinity which can raise your eyes to the fact that there is harmony, there is beauty, there are all these beautiful things on the planet. It's your spirit which appreciates a thorn, makes it something decorative, an Ikebana 3 , or throws it in the bush. When your perception changes, everything changes in the world.

When you are blind, there is disharmony, and that's exactly what happened in the Gita. The king Dhritarashtra was blind. When the king is blind, there will be war. It is inevitable. When the head of the family is adamant, arrogant, and blind, everybody in the family suffers. When a professor, who is head of a department at a college or university, is foolish then he cannot recognise real talents and then thus frustration filters through the whole setup. The same is true with any business setup. Take any example, if the head is blind, then there is suffering throughout. But the suffering does not just remain down the line, it comes back to'the head, and that's exactly what happened in the Mahabharata, of which Bhagwad Gita is the central core. The king, who was blind didn't know what was happening. Often,

people who are adamant, who are arrogant, who are blind, do not ask questions (the Gita begins with a question. There is no spirit of enquiry in them, they think they know all. When you think you know, without knowing, then you are in big trouble, then nobody can help you. However, that state doesn't last too long, because when there is a problem, it doesn't stay away from you. Whatever problem you create for others, comes back to you, and so the problem came back to the king. He wanted to know, "What is happening?" There is a good end to everything; every conflict has a good end. The moment you want to get out of a problem, it means you have climbed one step towards victory. Realization of a problem means we are out of the problem. So Dhritarashtra, the king, called Sanjay -Sanjay means `the right victory' -and asked him:

dharma-ksetre kuru-ksetre samavetet yuyutsavah mamakab pändavai caiva kim akurvata sanjaya (1.1)

anaryajustam asvargyam akirtikaram arjuna".

🌹🌹Sri Bhagavan said : Arjuna, how has this delusion overtaken you at this odd hour? It is shunned by noble souls; neither will it bring heaven, nor fame to you.

"klaibyam ma sma gamah partha naitattvayyupapadyate
ksudram hrdayadaurbalyam tyaktvottistha parantapa".

🌹🌹 Yield not to unmanliness,  Arjuna;  this does not become you. Shaking off this base faint-heartedness, stand-up, O scorcher of enemies.

"yadi mam apratikaram asastram sastrapanayah
dhartarastra rane hanyus tan me ksemataram bhavet".
यदि मामप्रतीकारमशस्त्रं शस्त्रपाणयः ।
धार्तराष्ट्रा रणे हन्युस्तन्मे क्षेमतरं भवेत्‌ ॥
 It would be better for me if the sons of Dhrtarastra, armed with weapons,  kill me in battle , while I am unarmed and unresisting.

Shloka 47

"evamuktavarjunah sankhye rathopastha upavisat
visrjya sasaram capam sokasamvignamanasah".

संजय उवाच
एवमुक्त्वार्जुनः सङ्‍ख्ये रथोपस्थ उपाविशत्‌ ।
विसृज्य सशरं चापं शोकसंविग्नमानसः॥

Sanjaya said : Arjuna, whose mind was agitated by grief on the battlefield , having spoken thus, and having cast aside his bows and arrows, sank into the hinder part of his chariot.

Thus, in the Upanishad sung by the Lord; the Science of Brahma, the scripture of Yoga, the dialogue between Sri Krsna and Arjuna, ends the FIRST chapter entitled " THE YOGA OF DEJECTION OF ARJUNA"

"Sanjay, my dear son, please tell me what is happening on this Dharma Kshetra (the land of dharma, the land of action). This is a land of action. This universe, our world is a place where law governs, dharma governs. If our actions are in accordance with dharma, there is always harmony. If our actions are against the law, against dharma then we face disharmony or conflict. Knowing this, he asked Sanjay, "Tell me, what is happening? You can see it, but I can't. You tell me what is happening in Kurukshetra, between my children and the Pandavas?" It's my-ness, the limited belongingness blinds a person. A limited understanding of what is mine, what is not mine makes a person miserable.

Dhritrashtra asked Sanjay, "What is happening?" Sanjay was intuitive; his inner eye was open. He was a sort of psychic. He didn't watch any-crystal ball, but he was so intuitive, that sitting in the palace he saw what was happening out there in the battle field. In those days there were no cameras, so the people had to use their inner faculties. There was no conference calling, no television stations. However, some people had great inner vision, an inner ability to cognise, to recognise, to comprehend things happening far away. Even today there are many people who can see things, who can predict, who can visualise what's happening elsewhere. Sanjay was an expert in that, and the king sought an expert's help to see what is happening. That is the beginning of Gita. When you don't have the ability, take the help of those who have the ability – the very first lesson. You can't do everything by yourself. So take help from those who can do it, and then do it. See that they too are part of you.

When Duryodhana saw the strength of the Pandavas, with whom he was going to fight, he straight away went to his teacher, Dronacharya 4 to complain. A weakness in a person is that he/she doesn't
recognise his/her strength. Duryodhana looked at the others and when he found that the others are stronger than him, that is when he saw himself becoming weaker and weaker. If your sight is stuck on the other, it's never on yourself; you are bound to be weak. Duryodhana didn't see himself, his own massive army that he had with him, his eyes were fixed on the others. When you keep eyes on others, you can't but complain. And he did just that, he went and just complained and complained, "See what you have! Look at them, they have so much talent, they have so much power, they have so many people there, with me there is nobody..." he started his off-tune music. Duryodhana's music went on like that, as an accusation: "All of you, what have you done for me? You have done nothing!" He went on accusing and feeling weaker. So by the hour, he was feeling frustrated, angry, and tensed as he accused his own men. The height

of ignorance was that he was accusing the teacher who taught him. Strength comes from gratefulness. Strength comes from recognising one's strength.

Duryodhana, was singing his own tune, complaining about, `How they are strong and we are weak: When such complaining went on non-stop, his grandfather Bhishma blew a big conch. Blowing a conch, making a loud sound can shift ones awareness, consciousness. Every instant in the Gita is universal in nature, it is not just a phenomenon which just happened once, long time ago. It's a perennial phenomenon, it is happening every day continuously. That is the beauty of this knowledge, its not limited to time and space. It's eternal. The eternal song (Gita), because its values hold good for all generations, for all people all over. So when the mind starts groaning and complaining, what a wise man would do is - he would blow a conch. "aho bata mahat papam kartum vyavasita vayam
yad rajyasukhalobhena hantum svajanam udyatah".
अहो बत महत्पापं कर्तुं व्यवसिता वयम्‌ ।
यद्राज्यसुखलोभेन हन्तुं स्वजनमुद्यताः ॥

Oh, what a pity! Though possessed of intelligence we have set our mind on the commission of a great sin; that due to lust for throne and enjoyment we are intent on killing our own kinsmen.

